International Baccalaureate World Candidate School

MSC is currently in the candidacy phase, embarking on a journey to become an International Baccalaureate World School. We expect to receive authorization in Spring 2026.

The International Baccalaureate Mission

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a global leader in international education. It aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The IB Learner Profile

The IB Learner Profile is a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. IB learners strive to be:

Inquires, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, Reflective, Open-Minded, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled

Primary Years Programme

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) marks the start of a lifelong journey. It develops caring and culturally aware children in grades K-5 to become active participants in their own learning. PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.

The PYP is a framework guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas, with a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. Students in grades K-5 explore these six themes through the year:

  • Who we are*

  • Where we are in place and time

  • How the world works*

  • How we express ourselves

  • How we organize ourselves*

  • Sharing the planet

*2024-2025 School Year

Middle Years Programme

The IB Middle Years Programme, for students in grades 6-8, provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and to become critical and reflective thinkers.

Building a solid academic foundation, the MYP develops students’ confidence in managing their own learning and making connections between their learning in the classroom and the real world. These global contexts frame the interdisciplinary units taught throughout the year:

  • Identities & Relationships

  • Orientation in Time & Space

  • Personal & Cultural Expression

  • Globalization & Sustainability

  • Fairness & Development

  • Scientific & Technical Innovation
