Middle School Application Process
For students entering 6th Grade, who are eligible to participate in New York City Admissions Process, you can apply to us by visiting MySchools.
Timeline:
The middle school application opens in October. Families should work with elementary school staff to complete and submit their application.
The deadline for families to submit their middle school application is December 1st.
Middle school offers will be available to families and school staff in the spring.
District 3 Admissions Methods:
District 3 and DOE public middle schools used an open admissions method last year. This means that programs will pause on screening, or pause using applicants’ academic records, auditions, or other assessments to evaluate or admit students. If a school has more applicants than available seats, offers will be made using priority groups (when applicable) and random selection (a lottery).
If you have recently moved to District 3 or would like to transfer from a non-public school, please visit the District 3 Morningside Family Welcome Center, located at 123 Morningside Drive, Room 235. At the Welcome Center, you may receive an Enrollment Assignment Form for vacancies in the district. Alternatively, you may email the District 3 Morningside Family Welcome Center at MorningsideFWC@schools.nyc.gov or call 332-228-0312.
If you have any further admissions questions, please contact our Parent Coordinator at dgrollman@schools.nyc.gov, or you can visit the NYC Public Schools Enrollment Help page.
